MUMBAI: Following Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s decision to boycott PM Narendra Modi’s functions, after he was heckled at a function in his state on Tuesday, there is uncertainty over whether Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan will attend the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the Metro rail at Nagpur with the PM on August 21.

Chavan said that he, too, was heckled by Modi supporters at a function in Solapur in the past, but he ignored it. Suspecting that the heckling of Congress CMS was deliberate, he said he needs to take a call on whether he should attend the August 21 function or not.

Chavan has criticised the Centre for clearing the Nagpur Metro, but not giving a go-ahead to Pune Metro. Chavan had also attacked Modi over his decision to scrap the planning commission, saying it will prove costly to the nation. ‘CM SHOULD CONTEST FROM OUR DISTRICT’

The Satara district Congress has passed a resolution demanding Chavan be fielded in the Assembly elections from the Satara south or Wai constituency in Satara district.

The state Congress conducted interviews for the aspirants from Marathwada and Western Maharashtra at its Dadar office, on Tuesday.

The district body of the party submitted a copy of resolution to the poll panel that has been conducting the screening.
