The group leaders of Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, Nationalist Congress Party Maharashtra Navnirman scheduled to go on a three-day study tour of the drainage network in the Andaman and Nicobar islands from December 17 to 19. Earlier, the plan was to visit Amsterdam to study the drainage network there. But because of the cold climate, that tour was cancelled, and the Andamans were chosen as an alternative location.
HT had reported on December 10 about the Improvements Committee’s visit to Jammu and only had sightseeing and visits to tourist places on its schedule. Activists had slammed the tour, saying that these study tours are of little use in terms of finding solutions to Mumbai’s problems.
