Cybercrime awareness drive to reach multiplexes, mobile phones
We fall prey to frauds because of lack of awareness, alertness, negligence and casual approach towards precautionary measures. Our aim is to make people aware of the importance of staying alert. AHMAD JAVED, Mumbai police commissioner
MUMBAI: Soon, you will get to see short films in cinema halls and get videos stressing the importance of awareness to prevent cybercrimes on mobile messaging applications.
The Mumbai police on Monday launched the cyber safety awareness campaign, in association with the State Bank of India (SBI). Police commissioner Ahmad Javed and SBI chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya released the two video-films and creative hoardings.
The punch lines of the awareness advertisements are ‘Har ek friend jaruri nahi hota (Not every friend is important)’ and ‘Banker aapka PIN kabhi nahi mangega (Banker will never ask for PIN)’.
At the end of the short film, Ahmed asks citizens to remain alert.
KMM Prasanna, additional commissioner of police (crime), said, “The creative content will be used through posters, hoardings, standees and other mediums to spread awareness about cyber safety. The two short videos will soon be sent on mobile messaging apps and will also be posted on the city police’s social networking mediums.”
Ahmed said, “We fall prey to frauds because of lack of awareness, alertness, negligence and casual approach towards precautionary measures. Our aim is to make people aware of the importance of staying alert.”
Bhattacharya said, “Even if a person is knowledgeable, he is not always on guard. So we came up with this campaign.”
