Teen decapitate­d by alleged jilted lover

RANCHI: A teenage girl was decapitate­d in front of her parents on Sunday night by her alleged jilted lover in Jharkhand’s Jehiletand village, around 55 kilometres north of Ranchi, police said.

Amin Ansari, 26, a mechanic, attacked and killed Pushpa Tiru, 19, with a machete, police said. Ansari was chased and caught by Pushpa’s mother Sharda Devi and villagers, and handed over to the police.

The police have said that Ansari alleged he was Pushpa’s lover for the past one year and was shocked to hear of her impending marriage. However, Ansari’s claim was rejected by the girl’s family members family had earlier threatened to kidnap Pushpa if she was not married to Ansari. “He had threatened me too. It was a one sided affair that my daughter didn’t approve,” said Kinu Tiru the deceased’s father.

Khelari police station-in charge Harindar Kumar Rai told Hindustan Times that Ansar was suffering from depression “Villagers said Ansari used to stalk Pushpa and on many occa sions, she had complained to her parents,” Rai said.

He added that Ansari’s family members claimed Pushpa had met the assailant a number of times “We have arrested Ansari and recovered the murder weapon. He has accepted the crime,” Rai said
