SRINAGAR: Hardline separatists on Monday said they held a detailed meeting with Pakistan high commissioner Abdul Basit in New Delhi to discuss the recent meetings of external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj with Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his adviser on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad.
The spokesman of hardline Hurriyat Conference, Ayaz Akbar, said party chairman Syed Ali Geelani’s personal secretary Peer Saifullah and chief organiser Altaf Ahmad Shah held a detailed meeting with the Pakistani high commissioner, deputy high commissioner and other officials in New Delhi on Monday.
“The Hurriyat delegation handed them Geelani Sahab’s message that Pakistan should continue to maintain consistency and firmness over its Kashmir policy and will highlight the human rights violations committed by the Indian forces on the international forums,” Akbar said.
He added that the delegation also apprised the Pakistan high commissioner about the present situation in Kashmir.
There has been a renewal of talks between India and Pakistan after the PMS of the two countries met in Paris on the sidelines of a climate conference.
The meet was followed by a secret meeting between the national security advisors of the two countries in Bangkok.
