THE VICTIM WAS NOT KEEPING WELL AND HER PARENTS TOOK HER TO A HOSPITAL WHERE DOCTORS SAID SHE WAS PREGNANT

NAVI MUMBAI: Two people from Nerul including a woman, who allegedly pushed a cognitively disabled woman into prostitution, have been booked by the police on Friday. No arrests have been made so far. The victim is now one month pregnant.

The police said the 28-year-old woman lives with her parents. Her mother is a maid at a hospital in Mumbai and her father works as a watchman in a housing society. As her parents leave for work in the morning, she is alone at home.

“Taking advantage of the situation, a 26-year-old woman, who stays nearby, took Rs1,000 from a vegetable vendor a few weeks ago and allowed him to have sex with the victim,” said Arjun Gaikward, assistant police inspector from Nerul police station.

The victim did not reveal it to anyone as she was too scared. She was not keeping well for the past few days and her parents took her to a hospital. There the doctors told her parents that she was pregnant. It was only then that the victim narrated the entire incident to them. Sangeeta Alphonso, senior inspector of Nerul police station said, “The parents then approached us, but were not interested in registering a case, but weconvinced them. We are now searching for the culprits and hope to arrest them soon.”
