AZAD SAYS HE NEVER INDULGED IN ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITIES
NEW DELHI: A day after he was served a show-cause notice from the BJP, suspended party MP Kirti Azad refuted the charges against him, saying he never indulged in any act of indis cipline or targeted any BJP member over irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). He has requested the party to termi nate the proposed disciplinary proceedings against him.
In a three-page reply to the notice, Azad again made a veiled attack at finance minister Arun Jaitley, saying ‘an individual’ can not claim the shield of discipline when wrongdoing in the body (DDCA) are raised.
“Not one office-bearer apart from Jaitley has reason to feel aggrieved by my or the cricket ers’ (Bishan Singh Bedi and oth ers) complaint of wrongdoings in DDCA,” Azad said. It adds “Humbly, I do not understand how an individual who has cho sen to involve himself in activities that have no connection with the party can later claim the shield of party discipline when instances of wrongdoing in that body are raised and proved.”
Calling himself a “loyal sol dier of the party for the last 22 years”, Azad said he has not done any act to denigrate the party or which amounts breach of disci pline. “I have never, outside party forum, alleged that our party men are involved in corruption activi ties,” he argued, challenging the party to provide him with evi dence from any press release or news report.
