Golden double for Indian paddlers
KUALA LUMPUR: Indian men and women’s teams scripted history by clinching the gold medals at the second division of the World Table Tennis Team Championship with victories over Brazil and Luxembourg respectively on Saturday.
Indian women beat Luxembourg 3-1 in the event final of the Second Division, while their male counterparts overcame a Brazil 3-2.
India had sealed their entry in the Champions Division by reaching the finals. Incidentally, this was the first time ever that the women’s team kept a clean slate — eight wins — in the first and the second stages.

JITU FINISHES FIFTH IN 10M AIR PISTOL
BANGKOK: Indian shooter Jitu Rai reached the final of the 10 metres air pistol event to eventually finish fifth on competition day three of the ISSF World Cup for Rifle and Pistol on Saturday.
Jitu shot 580 to qualify for the eight-man final in seventh position, before being eliminated in fifth position and after the 14th shot in the 20-shot final.
