Team checks in at Yuvi celebrations

MOHALI: The Indian cricket team’s victory celebration, it seems, will continue for some more days. After their memorable win over England on Tuesday, the players stayed put in the team hotel where Yuvraj Singh’s pre-wedding celebrations took place.

The Indian team, led by skipper Virat Kohli, was part of Tuesday’s function. With a week to go for the fourth Test, the cricketers let their hair down before they head home for a mini break.

“There is a gathering tonight at the hotel. The entire team is invited. We’ll obviously go there (at Yuvi’s function). So, yeah, it’ll be a nice coincidence, I guess. Fourth day, getting the job done and you have the chance to celebrate it in the evening. I think the guys will be more relaxed attending the function and chill a bit longer,” Kohli had said just after the match.

With this comprehensive win, India stretched their unbeaten record to 16 Tests. This was their fourth biggest win against England.

Kohli singled out Mohd Shami for special praise. “He has come back stronger. He had to train that extra bit because it was a knee injury. He is able to sustain that energy now for 4-5 good overs and he’s bowling long spells. Even Umesh for that matter, they both have bowled over 145 kmph consistently… and on these pitches to not lose heart.

On the other hand, England skipper Alastair Cook looked gutted, having lost the match in four days. Cook said the weeklong break will give his side to come back refreshed. “The break is coming at a really good time after three back-to-back Test matches. You know, we have this week off, so most of the people are going to Dubai. Mentally, it will give us a break from cricket and we will come back a little bit more refreshed.”

The Mumbai Test begins on November 8.
