Karnan adds woman judge to accused list

- HT Correspondent

Continuing his tirade against the Chief Justice of India and seven other judges of the apex court, Kolkata high court judge CS Karnan on Friday passed a suo motu order directing the Air Control Authority, New Delhi, not to allow CJI JS Khekar and seven others to leave the country.

Surprisingly, Karnan — who has so far passed four suo motu orders against the CJI and six other SC judges — added the name of woman judge R Banumathy as an accused on Friday. The name was earlier never seen in Karnan’s orders. He is curr barred from carrying out judicial and administrative duties.

Referring once again to the “caste discrimination” shown against him and calling it an “atrocious act of brutality”, Karnan wrote that the “first (the CJI) and the eighth (Justice R Banumathy) accused have passed an identical order on February 15, 2016 without procedure according to law and restrained my judicial and administrative assignments at the Madras high court. Therefore the eighth accused impleaded as a neces sary party/accused in the com mon judicial order.”

Karnan had imposed a ban on foreign travel of the SC judges in his order on April 13 when he asked them to appear before him at his New Town residence by April 24 for violating his rights as a Dalit and humiliating him . His order called the judges “nationa offenders” and said they had shown caste prejudice and insulted him on March 31 by ask ing about his mental health.
