17-yr-old stabs friend to death over teasing

MUMBAI: The Shahunagar police have arrested a teenager, 17, for allegedly killing his friend of the same age, with a knife because the victim touched his face.

According to the authoritie­s, the incident took place on Wednesday near Jasmin Mill road in Shahunagar, where both the teens lived.

“Since the past one year, the accused was in Mysore where he stayed with his uncle,” said a police officer. The teen had come to Mumbai to celebrate Eid with his family and was set to leave for Mysore on Thursday.

Officials said that both the teenagers were childhood friends. A fight broke out after the victim touched the accused’s face teasingly.

“The accused then went to his house, returned with a knife and stabbed the victim before he could retaliate. We have detained the boy and he has been sent to a correction home,” said DB Thorat, a senior police inspector.

“The accused stabbed his friend in the chest, puncturing his heart. The victim was taken to Sion hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” said a police officer.

The police had recorded the statements of five friends of the two boys who witnessed the fight and murder.

The police have registered a case of murder under sections 302, 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code.
