REPINO: England attacking midfielder Dele Alli missed training on Thursday as he bids to recover from a thigh injury for the side’s second World Cup Group G game against Panama. The Tottenham Hotspur player picked up the knock during the 2-1 win over Tunisia on Monday and Alli said he was working to get back to full fitness. “Frustratin­g to have picked up a slight injury on Monday. Will do everything in my power to get back to full fitness asap,” he wrote on Twitter. England face Panama in Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday before completing the pool phase against Belgium in Kaliningra­d next Thursday. Should Alli not recover in time, Ruben Loftuschee­k, who impressed as a late substitute against Tunisia could be in line for a starting place.

Suarez announces wife’s pregnancy after heroics

ROSTOV-ON-DON: Luis Suarez hailed the “spectacula­r” achievemen­t of Uruguay reaching the last 16 of the World Cup for the third time in succession and- then announced his wife is expecting their third child. Uruguay joined Russia in securing qualificat­ion from Group A, as Saudi Arabia and Egypt were eliminated, following the 1-0 result in Rostov-on-don on Wednesday. He wrote on Twitter: “Happy to be part of Uruguay’s history accomplish­ing 100 games !!!!! “Happy to achieve the final 16 stage again … and even more happy to share that we’ll have our third child. Can arrives for medical ahead of Juventus move

TURIN: German midfielder Emre Can has arrived at Juventus to undergo medical tests ahead of an expected move to the Serie A champions. The 24-year-old joined Liverpool in 2014 and made his 167th and final appearance for the Merseyside outfit when he came on as a substitute in their Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid last month. Can’s contract at Liverpool expires on June 30 and the Premier League club confirmed his departure earlier this month. “Emre Can has landed in Turin ahead of a proposed move to Juventus,” the Italian club said on their website. “Can will now head to J|medical to undergo tests.”
