THREE OF FAMILY COMMIT SUICIDE IN CUFFE PARADE

-

MUMBAI: Three members of a family of a fisherman hanged themselves at their house in Cuffe Parade on Friday morning.

According to the Cuffe Parade police, Pravin Patel, 40, his wife Reena, 35, and their 11-year-old son, were residents of Machchimar Nagar. The family had been suffering from depression after the death of their 14-year-old daughter a few months ago. The incident came to light when neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the family’s house.

Police said doors of the house were bolted from inside for the past two days. Police said they have not found any suicide note.

Rashmi Jadhav, senior inspector, Cuffe Parade police station said the family was suffering from depression since their daughter’s death and had gradually stopped talking to their neighbours. “Patel was poor and could not afford the daughter’s treatment who had cancer. Patel felt guilty for his daughter’s death,” said an officer.

The police are investigating further to find the cause behind the suicide.
