Centre obstructing cleared projects: AAP

NEWDELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Wednesday alleged that the Bjp-ruled Centre is “forcibly” keeping the services department with the Delhi lieutenant-governor (L-G) in order to obstruct projects cleared by the cabinet.

Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal criticised the BJP for “stalling” the AAP government’s ambitious doorstep delivery of ration scheme.

His reaction came after Hindustan Times on Wednesday reported that the Delhi food commissioner referred the ration scheme to the law department despite being cleared by the chief minister.

“This news clearly shows the complicity of officers and the L-G. It is evident that officers are being asked to stop working. Have you ever heard any officer publicly refusing to follow the orders of the cabinet and the chief minister?” Kejriwal said.

He also warned people against voting for the BJP in the upcoming elections. “That is why BJP wants to keep ‘services’ with them. Entire Delhi should see how the BJP is stopping doorstep delivery of ration scheme. Remember this when you go to vote next time. This fight is between the Bjp-ruled central government and the people. I will fight till the end for people’s rights,” the chief minister said.

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia alleged that food commissioner Mohanjeet Singh “refused” to implement the ration scheme and instead sent the file to the law department.

“A game of files is being played through the commissioners and IAS officers, using a distorted interpretation of the Supreme Court verdict. This is bullying, so that the decisions taken by us are not implemented, because the officers side with them (L-G and the Centre),” he said.

Kejriwal and Sisodia further alleged that the L-G is trying to make police permission mandatory for installing CCTV cameras across the city — a claim denied by the Delhi Police on Wednesday. Calling it “height of licence raj in the 21st century”, Kejriwal said that nowhere in the world is such a licence required for installing cameras.

“It’s a huge blow to women safety because all existing cameras in Delhi will have to be removed till they obtain licence and all new CCTVS will have to wait for a licence,” he said.

A senior Delhi police officer, who did not wished to be named, refuted Kejriwal’s allegation that the committee has recommended mandatory licences to install CCTV cameras.
