LIGHT TREMORS FELT IN MMR

MUMBAI : Residents of Kalyan and Dombivli felt slight tremors on Friday night. The IMD, around 11.30pm, confirmed that an earthquake of minor magnitude 2.8 on the Richter scale - occurred with its epicentre somewhere in Raigad district. Tremors were felt in parts of Kalyan and Dombivli around 9.30pm. No damage was reported from in MMR or Raigad as it was mild earthquake, said duty officer, regional meteorolog­ical centre, IMD.

Cost of Phase I of new airport to increase by 50%

MUMBAI : The constructi­on cost of phase I of the Navi Mumbai airport is expected to go up by nearly 50% to ₹13,562 crore from the earlier projected cost of ₹9,600 crore, revealed a report by ratings agency Crisil. In 2013, then Maharashtr­a CM Prithviraj Chavan had estimated the cost at ₹9,600 crore.

Three booked for duping 44yearold of ₹65L

MUMBAI : DB Marg police booked three people for allegedly duping a 44-year-old woman of ₹65 lakh by promising her a flat at cheaper rate in South Mumbai. According to cops, Swati Shah and her husband made a payment of ₹1.5 crore for a flat in Grant Road, but the accused refused to hand over the flat from 2014 to 2018.

MCOCA invoked against Dawood aide

MUMBAI : The AEC of the crime branch invoked charges of stringent MCOCA against underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s aide Ramdas Rahane and hawala operator Harish Gyanchanda­ni. The police also recovered a pistol from him.

1 hurt, 8 rescued in two slab collapse incidents

MUMBAI : Two slab collapses in left one injured, while eight others were rescued on Friday. Part of a terrace of a ground plus four-structure in Byculla collapsed, injuring Praveen Hasan Khan, 50. In Vakola, eight people were rescued after a passage wall fell on Friday.
