ADOBE TO LAUNCH PHOTOSHOP APP FOR APPLE IPAD IN STRATEGY SHIFT

SAN FRANCISCO: Adobe Systems Inc., the maker of popular digital design programmes for creatives, is planning to launch the full version of its Photoshop app for Apple Inc.’s ipad as part of a new strategy to make its products compatible across multiple devices and boost subscripti­on sales. The software developer is planning to unveil the new app at its annual MAX creative conference in October, according to people with knowledge of the plan. The app is slated to hit the market in 2019, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private product plans. Engineerin­g delays could still alter that timeline.

Oil falls more than 1% as supply concerns ease

TOKYO/LONDON: Oil prices fell more than 1% on Friday, set for a second straight week of decline as Libyan ports reopen and amid hopes that Iran will still export some crude despite US sanctions. Brent crude LCOC1 was down $1, or 1.3%, at $73.45 a barrel by 08.40 GMT, heading for a weekly fall of around 4%. US benchmark West Texas Intermedia­te crude CLC1 lost 22 cents to $70.11, set for a weekly decline of around 5%. Oil approached $80 in June and early July due to Libyan and Venezuelan supply disruption­s and fears the United States would press all buyers of Iranian oil to cut imports to zero from November.

Thyssenkru­pp names finance chief interim CEO

FRANKFURT: Thyssenkru­pp named chief financial officer Guido Kerkhoff as interim CEO on Friday while the supervisor­y board searches for a replacemen­t for Heinrich Hiesinger, who resigned a week ago. Hiesinger quit after failing to win unanimous shareholde­r backing for a deal to create a steel joint venture with India’s Tata Steel, while activist investors are campaignin­g to restructur­e the industrial group.

NTPC signs ₹1,500 crore term loan with HDFC Bank

NEW DELHI: NTPC, India’s largest electricit­y generating company, today said it has signed a term loan agreement with HDFC Bank for availing a loan of ₹1,500 crore. The 15-year loan will bear an interest rate linked to 3-months MCLR of the bank, the firm said. “This loan has a door-to-door tenure of 15 years and will be utilised to part finance the capital expenditur­e of NTPC,” it said. The loan agreement was signed by NTPC GM (finance) AK Gautam and HDFC Bank regional head for corporate banking Raveesh Bhatia on July 10.

Accenture acquires AI data analytics firm Kogentix

NEW YORK: Global profession­al services company Accenture has acquired Illinois-based Kogentix, a company providing big data and AI services and solutions, for an undisclose­d sum. The acquisitio­n of Kogentix that has nearly 220 data and AI profession­als, will strengthen Accenture Applied Intelligen­ce’s growing data engineerin­g business at a time when companies are looking to harness Open Source big data and advanced analytics technologi­es, the company said in a statement late on Thursday.
