15 INJURED AS BUS TOPPLES ON MUMPUNE EWAY

MUMBAI: A bus travelling on the Mumbai-pune Expressway toppled at Rasayani in Raigad on Saturday morning, injuring 15 of the 23 people on board. The passengers worked for a Borivli firm and were on their way to Lonavla for a picnic. The driver, Pradeep Talukdar, 23, has been arrested. Cops said he lost control of the vehicle after one of the tires burst. Twelve people were discharged from the hospital, while three were transferred to other hospitals.

72yearold falls to death from 15th floor in Powai

MUMBAI: A 72-year-old woman on Saturday fell to death from the 15th floor of a building in Powai. Her body was discovered by the domestic help on the duct of the seventh floor. Cops have filed an accidental death report.

WR begins audit of ROBS using new method

MUMBAI : The WR on Friday began the structural audit of all road overbridges (ROBS) in the suburban section, using a timesaving method. The ROBS at Mahalaxmi and Bandra were the first ones to undergo the audit. The method will reduce inspection time by 50%, said Ravinder Bhakar, chief PRO, WR.

Schizophrenic accused of murder granted bail

MUMBAI: The sessions court granted bail to a 32-year-old accused of murder, after medical reports confirmed he was suffering from schizophrenia. Muzammil Khan had been accused of stabbing his landlord Mehboob Khan, 42 in December 2014. He was released on condition that he should get himself treated and be available for trial.

Cigarettes worth ₹8 lakh stolen from Turbhe factory

NAVI MUMBAI: The APMC police registered a case against unidentified people who broke into a cigarette factory in Turbhe and stole cigarettes worth ₹8.04 lakh. The incident took place between Friday evening and Saturday morning, said police.
