JAYA’S APOLLO HOSPITAL ROOM TO BE INSPECTED

CHENNAI: The room at Apollo hospital where late AIADMK supremo Jayalalith­aa was hospitalis­ed will be inspected on July 29 by the counsel representi­ng the panel probing her death and those from the side of her aide V K Sasikala. Allowing an applicatio­n from two lawyers representi­ng the panel seeking to visit the hospital, Justice Arumughasw­amy, heading the one man commission, allowed them and two advocates from Sasikala’s side to inspect the room, the emergency and the ICCU units.

‘639 Maha farmers killed themselves in 3 months’

MUMBAI: In Maharashtr­a, 639 farmers committed suicide between March 1 and May 31 this year due to crop failure, debt and inability to repay bank loans, the state government has said. State revenue minister Chandrakan­t Patil said in the legislativ­e council in Nagpur Friday in reply to a question by Leader of Opposition Dhananjay Munde. “Of these 639, 188 farmers were declared eligible for compensati­on as per government schemes,” Patil added.

ED chargeshee­ts Jindal in coal block allocation case

NEW DELHI: The Enforcemen­t Directorat­e on Saturday said it has filed a chargeshee­t against industrial­ist Naveen Jindal, a former Lok Sabha MP, his company Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) and others for money laundering in its probe into the coal block allocation case.
