PETROL, DIESEL PRICES FALL AFTER 10 DAYS

NEW DELHI: Petrol prices fell around 10 paise across the four metro cities on Monday after rising nearly a rupee and a half in the last 10 days. Prices of diesel also were down around 13-15 paise from the levels on Sunday. Since fuel prices started an upward movement again on June 5, prices were unchanged on July 11 and July 15 (Sunday), according to data from the Indian Oil Corp,’s website. In the national capital, petrol was priced at ₹76.84 on Monday, 11 paise down from the previous price of ₹76.95 a litre. In other key cities of Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai, the fuel was sold at ₹79.51, ₹84.22 and ₹79.76 per litre, respective­ly, against the previous levels of ₹79.61, ₹84.33 and ₹79.87 a litre.

Unacademy raises $21 mn from Sequoia, SAIF, others

NEW DELHI: Online education start-up Unacademy on Monday said it has raised $21 million in a series C funding round from Sequoia India, SAIF Partners, Nexus Venture Partners and other existing investors at a valuation of more than $100 million. Blume Ventures also participat­ed in this round. Some $2-3 million has come in the form of secondary investment in which some angel investors exited the company, Unacademy co-founder and chief executive officer Gaurav Munjal said in a statement. Unacademy plans to utilise the capital to get 10,000 educators on board monthly (from the present 3,000).

Essar bids: NCLAT may give Arcelor, Numetal more time

NEW DELHI: The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on Monday hinted at giving a chance to both Numetal Ltd and Arcelormit­tal India Ltd, the resolution applicants who submitted bids for Essar Steel Ltd, to cure ineligibil­ities after which revised bids may be invited from the companies. “If both are ineligible, we’ll see if both can be made eligible by giving some time,” a two-judge NCLAT bench headed by justice SJ Mukhopadhy­ay said during the hearing of cross petitions filed by the two disqualifi­ed bidders.

ICICI Bank postpones AGM to September 12

NEW DELHI: ICICI Bank has decided to postpone its annual general meeting (AGM) by a month amidst independen­t enquiry conducted by Justice BN Srikrishna on alleged cases of impropriet­y against the bank’s CEO Chanda Kochhar. The meeting has been reschedule­d to September 12 as against the earlier schedule of August 10.
