Biker injured as she skids on uneven road

MUMBAI: A 35-year-old woman suffered a severe head injury after her scooter skidded outside Tardeo police station on Tuesday night.

The woman, Tardeo resident, was reportedly on her way to the police station after a fight in the family. According to Tardeo police, she wanted to register a complaint against her husband. While she was taking a turn, the two-wheeler skidded. A police official suspect that she skidded due to unevenness of the road, His suspicion stems from the fact that he himself is extra cautious while taking the same turn. However, eyewitness­es claimed that potholes caused her fall. The woman’s husband who was following her on his twowheeler saw the woman fall. “We took the woman to Nair Hospital as she had suffered head injuries,” said Sanjay Surve, senior inspector of Tardeo police station.

On the request of her family, she was shifted to Bhatia Hospital on Wednesday morning. Dr Sachin Gadkari, medical superinten­dent, Bhatia Hospital, said that she was stable but under observatio­n in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

“The patient has suffered several facial abrasions, small subdural hematoma (blood clot) in her brain and minor skull fracture. She is conscious, responding to the commands and might be shifted to a general ward within 48 hours depending on her condition,” said Dr Gadkari.
