BROAD FINED FOR GIVING PANT A FIERY SENDOFF
NOTTINGHAM: England fast bowler Stuart Broad has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second day of the third Test against India at Trent Bridge. Broad was found to have breached Article 2.1.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.” In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of the fast bowler, for whom it was the first offence since the introduction of the revised Code in September 2016. The incident occurred in the 92nd over of India’s first innings on Sunday, when following the dismissal of Rishabh Pant, Broad walked towards the batsman and spoke in an aggressive manner, which had the potential to provoke an aggressive reaction from the dismissed batsman. Broad admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe.
Rayudu, Jadhav included for quadrangular series
NEW DELHI: Ambati Rayudu and Kedar Jadhav have been included in the India A and India B squads for the quadrangular series starting Thursday. They replace Siddhesh Lad (India A) and Ricky Bhui (India B) who were released to play in the Duleep Trophy for India Red and India Blue.
While Jadhav will return to action after nearly four months following a successful hamstring surgery in June, Rayudu, on the other hand, was ignored for the limited overs series in England after failing to pass the Yo Yo fitness test.
BCCI units asked to comply with new rules by Sept 20

The COA has drafted a compliance certificate and asked units to sign off on it. Once members comply with the new rule book, the process of elections will begin. However, Bihar’s membership status remains in disarray.
Woods bullish about winning on tour soon
LONDON: Dustin Johnson is defending champion at the Northern Trust tournament, but all eyes will be on Tiger Woods when the PGA Tour’s Fedexcup playoffs begin in New Jersey on Thursday. Woods is in the playoffs for the first time since 2013, when he was crowned champion of the season-long points race.
With his debilitating back problem now seemingly behind him, he has almost recaptured the form of his halcyon days, with only a victory missing from his 2018 resume. “I feel like my next wins are coming soon. How soon I don’t know but I’m putting myself there in tournaments now,” the 42-year-old told reporters on Tuesday at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus. “I’ve done it two of the last three tournaments I’ve played and they were big events, so I’m not that far away from getting it done. I think if I keep giving myself opportunities, I’ll get the job done.” Woods was a contender in the final two majors of the season, the British Open and PGA Championship, charging up the Sunday leaderboard before falling short.
