MODI TO INTERACT WITH TEACHERS’ AWARDS WINNERS
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the recipients of National Teachers’ Awards on Tuesday. This year, the human resource development ministry has revised the guidelines for the selection of teachers for the awards. “The basic premise now is that the new scheme should be transparent, fair, and reward demonstrated excellence and performance and has been inspired by recent innovations in major national awards. All regular teachers will be eligible to apply and no minimum years of service is required,” said a senior HRD official.
‘Plot’ to kill Hindu leaders: Cops to hand probe to NIA
CHENNAI : Tamil Nadu police, which had arrested five Muslim youth, for allegedly conspiring to kill Hindu Makkal Katchi leader Arjun Sampath on Sunday, has decided to hand over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). “Acting on a tip-off, the Coimbatore police foiled their murder plan but the case will be dealt by NIA as it involves a larger terror network,” a senior police officer said. Five ISIS sympathisers have been arrested but the alleged masterminds Faizal and Anwar are still absconding.
Passengers robbed on board Ganga Kaveri Express
ALLAHABAD: Armed miscreants looted a dozen passengers on board the Chennai-patna Ganga Kaveri Express. The miscreants also injured another half-a-dozen passengers in Chitrakoot district, the police said. The miscreants, who had stopped the train as it left the Manikpur railway station, targeted S3 and S9 bogies. Allahabad division PRO Sunil Kumar Gupta said that two injured passengers were given first aid at the Allahabad junction while two others were taken to the railway hospital for treatment.
