DESTRUCTIV­E PROJECT BY STATE IN KONKAN: RAJ

MUMBAI: MNS chief Raj Thackeray, while addressing party workers from Konkan on Saturday, said the state is trying to bring “destructiv­e project” in Konkan and that efforts are on by “outsiders” to grab the land in the region. Though he did not name the project, it was evident that Thackeray was taking a dig at the Nanar oil refinery project. Thackeray said, “Locals must not give their land to the government for the project.”

Awhad on Sanatan hit list, no addl security given: NCP

MUMBAI : The NCP alleged its MLA Jitendra Awhad is on the hit list of the right wing organisati­on Sanatan Sanstha and that the state is aiding the organisati­on with the plan. In a letter written to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, leader of Opposition in the Legislativ­e Council, Dhananjay Munde, said according to the ATS, activists from the Sanstha conducted a recce of Awhad’s house. Brijesh Singh, spokespers­on for the government, said there is a committee that reviews security threats for individual­s and VIPS, taking into account threat perception.

Two thieves held in Panvel, seven phones recovered

NAVI MUMBAI: Two members of a gang, who were stealing mobile phones from Panvel for the past several months, were arrested by Panvel police on Thursday. They have recovered seven stolen phones from them.

32yearold dies due to electrocut­ion in Thane

AMBERNATH : 32-year-old garage owner, identified as Rizwan Shaikh, died of electrocut­ion while cutting a tree branch to ensure the electric wires were properly routed to his garage at Ambernath on Wednesday. Shaikh’s brother alleged that his brother was asked to do so by state power board officials.
