Ravi Shastri is very good cricket commentato­r and he should be allowed to do so (that),” Chauhan, now the Uttar Pradesh Sports Minister, said while agreeing to demands raised by former cricketers for removal of Shastri as coach. The former Test opener also criticised Shastri for calling Virat Kohli-led present Indian team as the ‘best travelling team in the world’. “I do not agree. In 1980s, the Indian team was the best travelling team in the world.”

Pujara, Jadeja in Saurashtra squad

RAJKOT: India players Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja have been included in the Saurashtra team for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, Pujara, a Test specialist, and Jadeja, an all-rounder, may miss the fifth match, to be played on September 30, and the remaining matches, as they are likely to get selected in the national side for the next month’s Test series at home against the West Indies.

Pant needs to improve glovework: Chief selector

NEW DELHI: Rishabh Pant’s fearless batting has impressed chairman of selectors MSK Prasad, who now wants the youngster to complement it with quality glovework at the highest level. ‘’I am really happy the way Rishab batted in the last Test in England. In fact we never had any doubts about his batting skills. My only concern is about his wicket-keeping,’’ Prasad said. ‘’We are also trying to put him under wicket keeping specialist coach.”

SL detain five on fixing suspicion in women’s tie

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Cricket’s anti-corruption unit detained five Indian spectators on suspicion of match-fixing during Sunday’s third and final women’s ODI between the hosts and India. The five were initially asked to leave the ground at Katunayake, just north of Colombo, and later detained by police. “We felt their behaviour was suspicious at the grounds and all of them were seen excessivel­y communicat­ing on their phones,” a Sri Lanka Cricket official told AFP.
