FLOOR CAVES IN, FAMILY ESCAPES WITH INJURES

THANE : A city police officer, his wife and their one-year-old child had a narrow escape after the floor of their house caved-in on Tuesday. The five-storied Parjadham building at Louis Wadi was earlier declared dilapidate­d and dangerous by the Thane Municipal Corporatio­n. “Nitin Gholkar, 33, and his wife Radhika, 25, were in the bedroom with their child when the ceiling of the house below their flat collapsed. They sustained minor injuries and were admitted to a hospital,” said an official from the regional disaster management cell.

Railways to operate special locals after midnight

MUMBAI: For the convenienc­e of Ganapati devotees, Central Railway will operate special local trains after midnight for five days till Anant Chaturdash­i, the last day of Ganeshotsa­v. CR informed that a special local will depart CSMT at 1.30 am and reach Kalyan at 3 am. The train will stop on all the suburban stations, to clear the extra rush of passengers. This train will run daily till Anant Chaturdash­i. WR will operate four special slow trains on the last day of the Ganeshotsa­v between Churchgate-virar stations.

Doctor arrested for illegal terminatio­n of pregnancy

KOLHAPUR : Dr Rupali Chaugale, 39, a resident of Sangli was arrested and remanded to police custody on charges of illegal terminatio­n of pregnancie­s in the hospital run by Chaugale and her husband, without due license. Her husband, another accused in the case, Dr Vijaykumar is absconding. The two accused were in government service in the health department and were also practising privately.

Man kills his fatherinla­w, wounding wife and mother

KOLHAPUR: A man, Ajit Patil, from Ichalkaran­ji in Kolhapur attacked his wife, Rupali, and her parents with a knife on Monday. The attack left his father-in-law Dhondiram Ravan, 55, dead and his wife, 32, and her mother Radha, 50, wounded. The attack was suspected to be a result of a family feud. The couple were separated Patil is absconding after the incident.
