Guiding our guides
Today’s world is built on corruption, injustice, illegal activities, global warming, etc, and something needs to be done. It is in the hands of our generation to put an end to this, and education is the first step towards that.this is why teachers need to be brilliant; because without brilliance, children will not receive concrete education. Children do not dare to speak up against their teachers because they are taught not to question the authority.
This is why teachers should be graded, so the ‘good’ teachers can continue to share their knowledge and the ‘bad’ ones can improve. However, this privilege can be abused and misused by students who might immaturely grade their teachers on the basis of their relationship with the teacher. So this privilege should only be granted to students above a certain age, for example, those who are 15 or above. If this becomes a practice, the idea of a ‘bad’ teacher will be abolished and every child will hold the potential to change the world. Of all the hard jobs around, the most difficult is to be a good teacher. They are the ones who mould us to become future leaders. It is a teacher who teaches us to become responsible and contributing citizens. It is therefore the need of the hour to have talented and dedicated teachers. So it is the duty of every educational institution to grade its teachers. Institutions can come up with various ways to survey their teachers’ performances.
Students’ opinions can be considered for such grading, but it has to be noted that they tend to be biased due to their age. So bestowing such a huge responsibility in their hands is not advisable. Teachers can also self-evaluate and improvise their methods to suit the current educational scenario. It is a call every teacher must take for their students. Unless teachers don’t introspect, it will not make much difference, because as J John Ruskin once said, “Quality is never an accident. It is always the result of intelligent effort.”
