Bihar MP’S son dies as car rams divider

NOIDA: The 24-year-old son of Veena Devi, the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP from Bihar, died when the SUV he was driving hit a divider on the Noida-greater Noida expressway in the early hours of Saturday, police said.

The incident took place around 3.30 am when the Hyundai Creta SUV that the deceased — Ashutosh Singh — was travelling in, rammed into a divider on the expressway. Singh, who was pursuing an MBA degree from Sharda University in Greater Noida, was on his way to Delhi from Pari Chowk at the time of the incident, a senior police officer said, adding that he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Ajay Pal Sharma, senior superinten­dent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar, said, “Singh’s car hit the divider on the expressway. He sustained multiple injuries in the accident. He was rushed to Jaypee Hospital, where he died during the treatment.” Denying that Singh was under the influence of alcohol, Hansraj Bhadoria, station house officer, Expressway police station, said, “The cause of death is severe multiple injuries.” Bhadoria added, “His mother is admitted to Delhi hospital, where she is undergoing treatment for a heart ailment. She wasn’t informed since she is unwell.” But his family has taken his body to Patna. Singh’s father was also a former MP from Bihar. His mother currently represents Munger in the lower house.
