RENAMING CITIES BJP LOLLIPOP TO MASSES BEFORE ELECTIONS: SENA

- HT Correspondent

MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena made another jibe at its ally, the BJP, terming the latter’s plan to rename cities and construct a statue of Ram in Ayodhya as a “lollipop” to the masses before the polls next year. The comment was made on Saturday in an editorial in Sena’s mouthpiece, Saamana, whose editor is party chief Uddhav Thackeray. UP CM Yogi Adityanath had announced that his government will be constructing a Ram statue in Ayodhya. “Yogi, according to his wish, renamed Faizabad to Ayodhya and announced a grand statue of Lord Ram. This is a lollipop by BJP ahead of the 2019 elections… The demand is to free Lord Ram from prison [makeshift temple where the idol is currently installed] and install him in the temple. Lord Ram is still in exile, what good is erecting a statue in Ayodhya?” said the editorial.
