MS GANDHI IS RIGHT TO BE OUTRAGED. WE ARE TOO
Union minister Maneka Gandhi‘s outrage was so strong that Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis was compelled to promise a probe, saying, “The tiger is a gentleman. He attacks only if his habitat is violated.”.
Indeed, it is the depletion of forests that is bringing tigers more and more into contact with humans.
In this instance, it is not just villagers. The government has signed away a substantial por-
tion of this forest to an industrial house that plans to set up a cement plant there. Many of us are as outraged as Ms Gandhi.
Nothing could be crueler than the killing of a mother of two, and we feel Ms Gandhi’s pain just as she feels ours.
