27YROLD MAN’S ORGANS DONATED TO FOUR PEOPLE

MUMBAI : The family of a 27-yearold brain dead patient from Virar consented to donate his heart, liver and kidneys, to four people on end-stage organ failure. This was the 43rd cadaveric donation this year in the city. The donor suffered a brain haemorrhag­e during a family outing. The man’s father gave consent to donate his organs. The recipient of the heart is a 63-year-old retiree who is undergoing treatment at Fortis hospital since October.

Examinatio­ns of witnesses over in Sohrabuddi­n case

MUMBAI: A day after recording the statement of a chief investigat­ing officer in the Sohrabuddi­n Shaikh and Tulsiram Prajapati alleged fake encounter cases, the prosecutio­n on Thursday said that it was closing its case. Special prosecutor B P Raju informed trial court judge S J Sharma that the Central Bureau of Investigat­ion (CBI) has completed the examinatio­n of all its witnesses.

Anonymous group warns of BEST strike from Nov 26

MUMBAI : An anonymous group of employees have warned of indefinite strike of BEST buses from November 26 demanding the merging of BEST undertakin­g with the civic body. The group, through social media, appealed to drivers to gather at Azad Maidan for the protest at 10.00am instead of reporting to work. Apart from the demand of interim salary hike, the group has highlighte­d demand of non-payment of dues to retired employees.

Exgratia to kin of Husaini Building collapse victims

MUMBAI : Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis provided ₹1.65 crore to the families of the victims who died in the Husaini Building collapse in Bhendi Bazar in September 2017 on Thursday . The state government had announced ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh each for the family of the dead. The collapse killed 33 people.
