Rajinikant­h set to launch TV channel

CHENNAI: Superstar Rajinikant­h set the ball rolling to launch his own television channel on Friday, in a move being seen as a corollary to his intention to float a political party. Officials of Rajini Makkal Mandram, which is the forerunner of his yet-to-belaunched political party, have approached the Registrar of Trademarks to secure trademarks for three possible names for the TV channel – Rajini TV, Superstar TV and Thalaivar TV.

The actual selection of the channel’s name will be done later, the officials said.

Mayaram is 1978batch officer and retired as finance secretary, Government of India, and Sharma is 1984-batch officer and retired as chief election officer, Rajasthan.

Panel set up to implement cash transfer in lieu of ration

NEW DELHI: The ministry of women and child developmen­t Friday announced that a pilot on Conditiona­l Cash Transfer will be carried out in few blocks of two districts each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The decision comes following the directions of the National Council on India’s Nutrition Challenges. The National Council, during a meeting held on 14 November, by Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog had decided to do the pilot for Conditiona­l Cash Transfer in lieu of Take Home Ration.
