SC ADMITS PLEA AGAINST SHIVAJI MEMORIAL

MUMBAI: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday admitted a petition challengin­g the constructi­on of the ₹3,600-crore Shivaji memorial, off the coast of Mumbai, and issued notices to various respondent­s from the Maharashtr­a government and the Centre. Petitioner Debi Goenka from Conservati­on Action Trust stated the Maharashtr­a government had not called for public consultati­on before going ahead with the project.

Shilpgram to charge entry fee for visitors

MUMBAI: Shilpgram, the city’s first arts-and-crafts village located in Jogeshwari, will soon charge an entry fee for visitors. While adults or those above 12 years will be charged ₹25, children would be charged ₹5. Like Byculla Zoo, this place will also allow a family with a maximum of two children (between three and 12 years) for ₹25. Entry for civic school students remains free.htc

Metro faces snag, deboards commuters at Airport Road

Road station were evacuated on Friday morning after a technical snag was reported on a train from Versova to Airport Road station. “Due to a technical snag, one train has been withdrawn from services. Normal train services have been restored within 5 minutes,” Mumbai Metro One Private tweeted.

University teachers allege corruption by V-C

KOLHAPUR : The Shivaji University Teachers Associatio­n (SUTA) has planned to protest against the varsity’s vice-chancellor Dayanand Shinde next month, alleging he spent ₹40 lakh from the institutio­n’s funds at his residentia­l premises besides illegally appointing seven teachers and 12 non-teaching staff. The associatio­n has demanded a judicial inquiry into these irregulari­ties.
