and forces the other players to perform,” he said.

The spinner who played 67 Tests and 104 One-day Internationals for Pakistan, many of them under the captaincy of Khan, was reacting to Indian head coach Ravi Shastri’s comparing Kohli to cult cricketing figures like Vivian Richards and the former Pakistan captain.

“If I talk about Imran, the sort of personality he had and his ability to get performance out of his players... I don’t think Kohli is there as yet. But no doubt the Indian captain also leads by example,” he said.

Considered by many as the best batsman of the modern era, 30-year-old Kohli recently led India to their first ever Test series win in Australia.

GHAVRI DUBS SHAMI KEY BOWLER FOR WC

MUMBAI:FORMER India pacer Karsan Ghavri believes that speedster Mohammed Shami, who is in peak form, would be a key bowler for the country during the upcoming ODI World Cup to be hosted by England.

Asked whether Shami is an important contender for the World Cup squad, Ghavri replied: “100 per cent”. “He should be in the (Indian) squad for the World Cup because in the English conditions, he will be a key bowler,” said Ghavri.

Shami became the fastest Indian to claim 100 wickets in ODIS, when he achieved the feat during the first game of the fivematch rubber against New Zealand last month.

Ghavri advised the Bengal pacer to maintain accuracy, saying it would come handy for the team too. “He has got variety and can bowl in-swinger and outswinger. Accuracy is also there. If he develops a good yorker, it will be like an icing on the cake. His line and length is good and can generate a good speed,” the 67-year-old said.

‘MODIFY POLICY FOR SLOW OVER RATE’

ST JOHN’S, ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA: The International Cricket Council (ICC) should modify its policy for slow over rates, Cricket West Indies president Dave Cameron said on Tuesday.

Speaking in the wake of the suspension of captain Jason Holder from the third Test against England starting in St Lucia on Saturday, Cameron questioned whether the player’s absence was good for cricket.
