Sharadashram, RR Education win big in under-16 girls’ cricket
MUMBAI: Riding on fluent halfcenturies from Tanisha Gaikwad (78) and Aachal Valanju (59), Sharadashram Vidyamandir English Medium trampled St Francis Xavier School, Kanjurmarg by 118 runs in the under -16 Girls’ Manorambai Apte Tournament at Islam Gymkhana on Wednesday.
Batting first, Sharadashram posted an imposing 164 for two in 15 overs.
In reply, St Francis could muster only 46 for eight.
In another match of the day, Palak Dharamshi conjured up a superb all-round show to help RR Education, Mulund, beat Swami Vivekanand, Gorai, by 98 runs. Palak first slammed an unbeaten half-century (51*) to guide her team to a commanding 174 for two in 15 overs before returning to claim four for 37 to derail the opposition’s run chase who could only put up 78 for four. CUSTOMS THRASH CENTRAL RAILWAY 3-0
Mumbai Customs produced a dominating performance to thump Central Railway 3-0 in an Elite Division match of the MDFA League, at the Cooperage football ground on Wednesday.
Praneel Mendon drew first blood for Customs in the 12th minute before Prashant More extended the lead in the 24th minute. Pawan Rawat got the third for his side in the 86th minute.
In other matches, Western Railway SA pipped Union Bank of India at the Western Railway ground, thanks to a brilliant strike from Soni, whereas Kenkre FC rode on Jay Bhavnani’s brace to trounce Bombay Gymkhana 4-1.
