REINSTATIN­G SUSPENDED RTO OFFICERS WILL SEND THE WRONG MESSAGE

The news that the state transport department will reinstate suspended RTO officials is distressin­g. It will only encourage erring RTO officials to commit more crimes (37 suspended RTO inspectors reinstated by transport dept, February 8). No wonder corruption in the corridors of RTO is ranked on top. It was shocking to know that 28 motor vehicle inspectors (MVI) and nine assistant motor vehicle inspectors (AMVI) had committed the breach of official position by mere signing off the fitness test on paper.
