‘Can Budget promises be kept?’

Iwas glad to see the Union government acknowledg­e an overwhelmi­ngly large number of rural households, who may get some respite with the benefits for farmers.

While this is a farmer-oriented budget, I wish there were more perks for senior citizens as well. This is a category that often goes neglected and is in dire need of concession­s. It is time to give more concession in air and train travel for those over 60.

Gundu K Maniam a liquidity crunch, the health sector is in perilous state because of a lack of funds allotted to public health care.

The environmen­t sector needs new policies because our country is grappling with air pollution.

The government needs to expedite projects related to bringing more electric vehicles on to the streets.

Within the next 15 or 20 years, the country should switch entirely to renewable sources of automotive fuel.
