Sellebrity strike late to pip Companeroe­s

MUMBAI: Sellebrity FC left it late but eked out a narrow 1-0 win over Companeroe­s SC in a thrilling match of the MDFA E ite Division match, played at Cooperage football ground on Saturday.

Midfielder Mrudul Parab scored the decisive goal in the fifth minute of additional time to help Sellebrity pocket all three points. In another match, Bombay Gymkhana beat Bombay Muslims 3-1. Dhruv Pargai, Farzaad Dastoor and Pratik Patil all found back of the net for Gymkhana while Shlok Pable bridged the gap for Muslims.

Results (Elite Division): Sellebrity FC 1 (Mrudul Parab) beat Companeroe­s SC 0; Bombay Gymkhana 3 (Dhruv Pargai, Farzaad Dastoor, Pratik Patil) beat Bombay Muslims 1 (Shlok Pable).

CENTRAL RAILWAY EMERGE CHAMPIONS

Central Railway struck twice at the death as they beat Bandra Packers 3-0 in the final of the 2nd Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan Memorial Veterans’ Football Tournament 2019, at the Karnatak SA ground, Cross Maidan, on Saturday evening.

Kasif Jamal, Arif Ansari and Amar Pardesi scored for the winners. Jamal, who had converted a penalty to help Central Railway earn the lead, was also named as the player of the tournament.

Earlier, Karnatak Sports Associatio­n beat Bandra Packers 1-0 in their third-place tie.
