47-year-old hit by two-wheeler while cross­ing road in Dom­bivli, dies

DOM­BIVLI: A 47-year-old man from Am­ber­nath died af­ter a two-wheeler hit him from be­hind while he was cross­ing the road in Dom­bivli on Satur­day.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the de­ceased, Maruti Son­awane, who works for a pri­vate firm, had come to Dom­bivli for some work.

A po­lice of­fi­cer form Man­pada po­lice sta­tion said, “When Son­awane was cross­ing the road, a speed­ing two-wheeler hit him from be­hind ow­ing to which he fell on the road. He was rushed to the hospi­tal by lo­cal res­i­dents but he suc­cumbed to his in­juries mid-way.”

“Based on the state­ment of an eye wit­ness, a case was reg­is­tered against the biker un­der rel­e­vant sec­tions of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC) and other Mo­tor Ve­hi­cle Act,” the po­lice of­fi­cer added.

Po­lice said that the num­ber plate of the two-wheeler has not been iden­ti­fied and they have formed a team to in­ves­ti­gate the crime fur­ther.

“His body was handed over his fam­ily af­ter the post-mortem,” another po­lice of­fi­cer said.

The po­lice of­fice fur­ther said, “We are check­ing with nearby CCTV cam­eras to trace the ac­cused. We have also cir­cu­lated a CCTV im­age of the ac­cused in other po­lice sta­tions across the city.”
