A police officer said,“prathibha Mukandan, the complainant, told us that she received a call on Thursday afternoon around 2.30pm from an unknown caller who posed as a bank executive. He informed Mukandan that her debit and credit card was deactivated as they were not linked to her Aadhar card,” said a police officer, requesting anonymity.
The caller then asked her to download two mobile-based apps and link her Aadhar card using the second app, the officer said.
Mukandan downloaded the apps as per the accused’s instructions.

A Jet Airways official cited “operational reasons” behind the cancellation of a “few flights”. “The airline regrets the inconvenience caused. Affected guests have been re-accommodated while those seeking refunds have been compensated.” Jitendre Bhargava, the former executive director of Air India said no airline would want to specify the reason for flight cancellations. “Hence, Jet Airways has termed it as an operational reason. It looks like the cancellations are due to non-availability of crew.”
Meanwhile, Indigo also cancelled seven flights originating from Delhi on Sunday. An Indigo spokesperson said, “Due to a severe hailstorm in North India on Friday, 11 Indigo flights were diverted. Positioning of crew and aircraft had to be readjusted. As a result, a number of flights were cancelled. We regret the inconvenience caused.” According to sources, the airline had cancelled 15 flights on Saturday, and will be cancelling 32 flights on Monday across its network. At around 6.30pm, she again received a call from the accused who told her that her cards were not getting linked for which she has to share her card details as soon as possible. Minutes after sharing the details, Mukandan received an OTP that she then shared with the accused. An hour later, she received a message that ₹48,500 were debited from her account,” the officer said.
