3 killed in two separate road mishaps at Mumbra

THANE: Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Mumbra on Monday.

While a truck driver and his companion died on the Mumbra bypass road after their vehicle hit the mountainsi­de and fell into a duct, a yet-to-be-identified man was killed and his friend injured after their bike crashed into a truck parked on Shilphata Road.

“In the Shilphata accident, the victim was driving the bike rashly. His friend has been admitted to a hospital and we will take his statement once the doctor allows us,” said a police officer, who did not wish to be named.

In case of the truck accident, police said the driver, Anil Solanki, 24, fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the mishap. Solanki’s companion, who was sitting next to him, was identified as Dinesh Janre, 21.

Police said Solanki and Janre were taken to a nearby hospital and declared dead on arrival.

The police had informed their respective families in Madhya Pradesh, and have booked Solanki for rash and negligent driving.
