MUMBAI: The body of a 26-yearold man was found next to his bike in Vakola on Sunday evening.

The victim was identified as Ritwij Dilip Kumar Pandey from Delhi and worked at a firm in Ghodbunder Road.

An autorickshaw driver spotted the victim lying motionless next to his motorbike and informed the police around 4.45pm. “The body was found close to the area where Metro work is going on,” said an officer of the Vakola police station.

“We are investigating the case from all angles,” said Kailashchandra Avhad, senior inspector.

“We found injury marks on the body, which could have been owing to an accident or due to other reasons,” he added.

Avhad said they are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.

Pandey, according to a police officer, is the relative of a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from another state. His family has been informed, said the officer.

The spot where the body was found is not covered by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, and the police are yet to find any eyewitnesses.

Police said they are checking CCTV cameras near the spot to find out if there was any car, which may have knocked Pandey down.
