Prof accuses former colleague of sexual harassment; probe on
MUMBAI: The Juhu police are investigating a complaint by a senior college professor accusing a former colleague, now the principal of a suburban college, of sexual harassment.
Police have already launched an inquiry into the allegation and are recording statements of witnesses but have not registered a First Information Report (FIR).
According to the complaint received by the police, the harassment took place around a decade ago but the complainant decided to take action only now. Based on the complaint, police have met officials at the college where the complainant previously worked, while statements of people from the college where the accused works are also being recorded.
The complainant, who is in her fifties, has left the job at the college where the incidents took place.
“The complainant has made it very clear that she does not want to reveal her name and until the investigations show us some proof, we cannot reveal the name of the accused either,” said P Wavhal, senior police inspector from Juhu police station.
“Once we have recorded all the statements, we will decide whether the complaint deems an FIR and the further course of action will be decided accordingly,” Wavhal further added.
