SHARADASHRAM ENGLISH RETAIN GIRLS’ MSSA UNDER-16 TITLE

Mumbai:sharadashram Vidyamandir English Medium High School won the MSSA Under-16 Girls Manoramabai Apte Cricket Tournament for the third successive time after beating St Columba High School in the final at the Islam Gymkhana on Monday.

After winning the toss, Sharadashram Vidyamandir scored 134 runs in their stipulated 20 overs match. Ketki Dhure was the top-scorer with an unbeaten 72 (53 balls, seven fours). Pacebowling all-rounder Tushi Shah claimed five wickets.

Replying to the target of 135 runs, St Columba School could manage only 83 for nine in their allotted 20 overs as Tushi Shah’s 51-ball 50 was in vain. Off-spinner Nirmitee Rane captured four wickets.

Final: Shardashram Vidyamandir (English) 134 in 19.1 overs (Ketki Dhure 72*; Tushi Shah 5/43) beat St Columba School 83/9 in 20 overs (Tushi Shah 50; Nirmitee Rane 4/29) by 51 runs.

Semifinals: Blue Star CC 262/9 in 45 overs (Rohit Purabiya 95, Anuj Chhajed 35, Prathmesh Golatkar 34) beat Achievers SC 186/8 in 45 overs (Shubham Gaikwad 47, Zico Fernandes 33, Praful Devkate 33; Aryan Patni 4/38) by 76 runs.

Evergreen SC 217/7 in 45 overs (Rutvik Rathod 62, Faizan Rabani 48, Akash Palande 48*) beat Mohan CC 114 in 29.5 overs (Sayyed Moosa 31; Hussain Khan 4/18, Naufil Rozani 3/18) by 103 runs.

RATHOD STRIKES AS JAI HIND PIP VIJAYA SC

Jai Hind SC pulled off a narrow 1-0 win against Satya Vijaya SC in a Super League match of the Payyade Memorial Football Tournament. Striker Kumar Rathod netted the lone goal. Results: Star of Canara 1 (Melwyn Vaz ) drew Mangalore Blues 1 (Aaron Machado). Jai Hind 1 (Kumar Rathod) beat Satya Vijaya SC 0.
