IRANI CUP QUICK FACTS
The Irani Cup was introduced in 1959-60 season to commomorate the completion of 25 years of Ranji Trophy championship, as a traditional clash between the Ranji champions and the Rest of India. Called Irani Trophy till 2007-08 season, it was first played as a season-ender competition. From the 1965-66 seas till 2012-13, it was played as a season opener for domestic competition. Rest of India have won it 27 times, the most by any team. Mumbai/bombay is second with 14 titles followed by Karnataka ith five titles.
