NEW DELHI: Workload management of players will be on top of the mind when selectors meet in Mumbai on Friday to pick the squad for the series against Australia. India will play two T20IS and five ODIS in what will be the last set of internatio­nal games before the World Cup in England, starting on May 30. While Rishabh Pant is certain to be picked, it will be interestin­g to see if Ajinkya Rahane gets one last go to seal a place in the World Cup squad. In the bowling department too, Jasprit Bumrah is almost certain to make a comeback being rested for the New Zealand series.

Life ban likely on Anuj Dedha: DDCA president

NEW DELHI: The Delhi & District Cricket Associatio­n (DDCA) is all set to impose life ban on U-23 cricketer Anuj Dedha, who had physically assaulted former India pacer Amit Bhandari for not selecting him in the state U-23 side. Senior selection committee chairman Bhandari was attacked by Dedha and his associates on Monday. “We have a meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) but I think there is no other option left apart from imposing a life ban on this man Anuj Dedha. Whatever he has done, he only deserves exemplary punishment,” Sharma said on Tuesday. There is talk of providing security to selectors too after one of them Sukhvinder Singh called for it.

Suraj Ahuja to lead India U-19 against South Africa

NEW DELHI: Wicket-keeper and batsman Suraj Ahuja of Rajasthan will lead a 16-member India U-19 squad named for the two fourday matches against South Africa U-19 beginning on February 20. The squad: Suraj Ahuja (C & WK), Divyaansh Saxena, Varun Nayanar, Avneesh Sudha, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Kandpal, Shaurya Saran, Hrithik Shokeen, Manav Suthar, Manishi, Sabir Khan, Anshul Kamboj, Rajvardhan Hangargeka­r, Rohit Dattatraya, Rex Singh, Vathsal Sharma.
