VIRU OFFERS FREE EDUCATION TO SLAIN MEN’S KIDS
NEW DELHI: Virender Sehwag on Saturday offered to bear the educational expenses of children of all the CRPF personnel killed in the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama. On Thursday, at least 40 CRPF paramilitary troopers were killed in a terror attack while several others are battling for their lives following what is being termed as the deadliest terrorist strike in three decades in the valley. ”Nothing we can do will be enough, but the least I can do is offer to take complete care of the education of the children of our brave CRPF jawans martyred...,” Sehwag wrote on his Twitter handle. Boxer Vijender Singh, who is employed with Haryana Police, is donating a month’s salary.
Guptill helps NZ clinch ODI series vs Bangladesh
CHRISTCHURCH: Martin Guptill produced his second century in as many games as New Zealand wrapped up their one-day series against Bangladesh with an eight-wicket win in Christchurch. It followed a similar eight-wicket victory in game one of the three-match series when Guptill cracked 117 not out. This time the opener cut, drove and pulled his way to 118, his 16th ODI century, as New Zealand knocked off their 227-run target for the loss of two wickets. After rolling Bangladesh for 226, Guptill made a flying start in New Zealand’s reply as they passed through 10 overs at 59 for one. Mustafizur Rahman claimed the early wicket of Henry Nicholls for 14, leaving Kane Williamson to partner Guptill in a 143-run stand for the second wicket. When Guptill went in similar fashion to Nicholls New Zealand were 188 for two. Williamson and Ross Taylor then guided the side home.
