4 MONTHS ON, STUDENTS WAIT FOR MU’S ATKT EXAM RESULTS

- HT Correspondent

MUMBAI: The third-year students of University of Mumbai (MU), who took re-examinations (allowed-to-keep-term papers) in October after failing tests in May, are still awaiting results.

Due to the delay in result declaration, students have not been able to receive their marksheets. In some cases, they are finding it difficult to apply for higher education or hold on to their jobs, where submitting their graduation certificate is compulsory.

MU officials said the assessment of papers in the unaided sections were delayed as most colleges depend on visiting faculties, who often do not report for assessment. “However, the assessment of ATKT papers (re-examination), from Bachelors in Accounting and Finance (BAF) section is complete. The results should be announced soon,” said Vinod Malale, deputy registrar (public relations), MU. Hundreds of BAF students from the 2017-18 batch had appeared for the ATKT examination in October because of failing a subject or two.

“We were only a few students appearing for the BAF re-exam paper. Therefore, the delay is even more surprising,” said one of the students. He said that even though he is currently working with a stock brokering firm, his employment will be made permanent only after he submits his graduation certificate.

Some of the other students are facing problems in appearing for competitive examinations.
