Jaslok hosp calls off deal with int’l group
MUMBAI: A deal between Jaslok Hospital, one of the prominent private medical facilities in the city, and IHH Healthcare Berhad, a Malaysian-singaporean private healthcare group, fell through after the hospital refused to surrender its operations and control over the management.
The Jaslok Hospital authorities said instead of inking a profitsharing deal with an external agency, the hospital will continue with its plan to refurbish existing facilities over the next four years, including the plan to expand the hospital by 50,000 sqft.

Jitendra Haryan, chief executive officer (CEO) of Jaslok Hospital, said the decision to call off the deal was taken after discussion and feedback from patients and doctors.
“The hospital’s long-term vision is to create an experience for the patients and their family; at the same time, provide worldclass facilities. Jaslok’s management has initiated refurbishment project, which will include speciality departmental approach within the institution, state-of-the-art modular operation theatres, patient-friendly outpatient departments, daycare facilities, catheterisation laboratory and dedicated research centre, among others,” said Haryan.
The expansion plan will be divided into multiple phases to ensure continuity of the hospital services.
The first phase began last year, with the hospital launching a 37-bed advanced intensive care unit (ICU). The facility was inaugurated by Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
