Bengal home secy writes to EC against forces firing shots

KOLKATA: Bengal home secretary Atri Bhattacharya wrote to Ariz Aftab, the chief electoral officer, listing allegations of the central forces’ opening of fire in five areas and baton-charging people in the previous phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Barasat candidate, Mrinal Kanti Debnath, also wrote to the EC, saying there were threats to his life. Debnath also sought personal security.
