CHANDA KOCHHAR QUIZZED BY ED FOR SECOND DAY

NEW DELHI: The Enforcemen­t Directorat­e (ED) questioned former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar for the second consecutiv­e day on Tuesday in connection with the loans given by the private sector bank to Venugopal Dhoot led Videocon group companies. An official familiar with the details of questionin­g, said Kochhars are being asked details of assets, investment­s and bank accounts owned. They might be called for questionin­g again on Wednesday, he added.

Justice Sikri appointed chairperso­n of NBSA

NEW DELHI: The News Broadcaste­rs Associatio­n (NBA) on Tuesday announced the appointmen­t of former Supreme Court Judge Justice AK Sikri as the chairperso­n of News Broadcasti­ng Standards Authority (NBSA). Justice Sikri will assume office on May 26, 2019. NBSA is an independen­t body for self regulation of 24x7 news channels. Justice Sikri will succeed Justice (Retd) RV Raveendran. NBA president Rajat Sharma said Justice Sikri’s experience would strengthen the self-regulation.

Grenade-like object found at Pune air force school

PUNE: An object resembling a grenade was recovered from the grounds of the Air Force School in Viman Nagar in Pune on Tuesday, the Indian Air Force said. “The area was cordoned off by the IAF security,” they added. “The object was identified by bomb disposal team from civil police,” the IAF spokespers­on said. The defused explosive device was sent to a laboratory for chemical analysis.
